Post 8: English Languague Challenges

Post 8: English Language Challenges Regarding my experience learning English at university, I think it is quite useful to learn it, since it is a tool that can generate opportunities in the professional and personal future. However, it has been a bit difficult for me to participate in the online classes that we must have due to the context of the pandemic, because my internet is unstable and the class stays stuck, so for me it is better to see the recording. In any case, having English courses at the university is a good thing, because sometimes there is not the time or money necessary to have private language classes, so having it within the mandatory fields is something positive for our profile professional. I consider that the use of blogs is very useful, since it serves to improve our writing in English and to talk about different topics, in addition to the fact that we can interact by commenting on the posts of our colleagues. On the other hand, it is also a creative way to learn

Post 7: CHANGES TO MY STUDY PROGRAMME

Imagen
Post 7: CHANGES TO MY STUDY PROGRAMME  In general, I think that the program of studies of the race is quite good because it covers different areas of psychology and even in the first year we see subjects related to philosophy and history. However, I would change the transversal courses for others, such as a professional ethics course. Regarding the workload in some subjects, it is usually very high, having to do readings, see recorded capsules and connect to the live class. Probably this in a face-to-face context is different, but this is what I have been able to demonstrate in my experience that it has been completely online. In addition, I believe that the duration of the university studies are adequate because there is a large amount of content that we must review. I cannot give an opinion on the faculty, facilities since I have only gone once and saw it from the outside. However, I have been told that some of the classrooms are small considering the number of students. Regarding th

Post 6: Postgraduate Studies

Postgraduate Studies In the future, I would like to do a postgraduate degree in oncological psychology, one of the reasons to study this is that it is a branch of psychology that does not have many specialists because there are no universities dedicated to teaching this postgraduate course, however, starting this year, the Universidad de Chile takes on the challenge and will teach on oncological psychology. In addition, a personal reason that I have for studying this is that my grandmother died of cancer and never received psychological help, so I think that it is very important for the treatment of the disease that there is psychological support by a specialist who has a training for that specific disease, so that you can improve your quality of life. Considering that since this year the University of Chile has this specialty, I would like to study it in our country, so that I can be close to my family.  Regarding the study modality, I am not sure which one I would choose, since it w

Post 5: My future Job

Imagen
In the future, I would like to work in clinical psychology in a public health center, I am not sure what type of patients I would like to work with, for example, children, adolescents, adults, but one area that draws my attention is working with patients with cancer. I imagine my future job as one that gives me time to share with friends and family, where I can help others and give me financial stability. I also think that the work could only be done indoors because I am allergic to pollen from trees, grass, and fungi. Also, I would like to travel in my work to be able to train constantly in different places, but I would not like to travel too much because it must be exhausting. On the other hand, regarding salary, I would like to have one that gives me financial stability and allows me to save. However, salary is not the most important thing in a job, but you must have a vocation. I would like to specialize in clinical psychology, because I am interested in being able to h

Post 4: What's like to study psychology?

What's like to study psychology?   I study psychology at Universidad de Chile in the Social Science Faculty. I choose this career because I would like to help improve people's mental health and I am also interested in learning about how the processes of our mind develop, for example, language development, internalization of symbols, among others. Due to the pandemic, from my first year of studies to the present, my classes are online.  The online classes have been difficult because my internet connection is unstable, so sometimes I have to watch the class recordings. Also, I don't know my classmates in person, so sometimes the interaction is complicated. In addition to the above, having to spend so many hours in front of the computer is exhausting both physically and mentally. When I started college, it was hard for me to make friends, so at first, since I didn't know anyone, I didn't have anyone to share my doubts, but then I made friends and things got better. Des

Besides, a personal problem that causes me the pandemic is anxiety and burnout because causes me preocupation  the risk of infecting me, some virtual classes make me nervous because I don't know my classmates and the time to rest is sometimes short because I have to do things  around the house and that generates a exhaustion. I to cope with this confinement, I rest at least one day a week in which I watch movies and every day at night I watch series with my sister because I believe that care the mental health is important.
